Link model geometry to points
Where
Map → Geometry, beside 3D settings
Make an apartment, lot or other named model object open an existing point’s information card.
Steps
- Upload a supported GLB and create the point records in Points.
- Open Geometry. Search the alphabetically sorted object list and choose an object.
- Use the link control to find and assign its point. Several objects can share one point; existing markers remain.
- For an Availability point, Use availability overlay is enabled when linking. Adjust its appearance in Map Styling → 3D geometry.
- Preview hovering, clicking and filters, then Publish changes.
Expected result
Clicking linked geometry uses the point’s existing popup content, images, actions, enquiries and analytics. It does not create a second data record.
Visibility and click-through
- The eye icon hides an object completely, including clickability. Visibility is saved; Publish applies it to visitors. Reset visibility clears saved overrides.
- Use availability overlay keeps the linked shape interactive while replacing its normal appearance with the configured fill and outline. This differs from hiding it with the eye.
- If a building shell intercepts clicks, enable Allow clicks through this object on that shell. It stays visible while clicks can reach linked objects behind it. Surface point placement still uses model surfaces.
Show point names on geometry
- Open Map Styling → Labels & leader lines.
- Enable Show linked geometry names. This is off by default.
- Leave Show availability dot enabled to show a small status-colour dot before each Availability point’s Name, or turn it off for text only. Information points have no dot.
- Adjust Label font size here and UI text colour under Colours & branding. Pills have a white background and face the camera.
- Preview, then Publish to apply the layout settings to visitors.
Names appear at the centre of each linked object’s bounds. Clicking a pill uses the point’s configured action; points with no action are display-only. Names and availability colours follow current point data even when Name is hidden in the information card.
Eye-hidden, filtered-out, deleted, unnamed or unresolved objects have no label. In this first version, labels sit above the model and do not automatically hide behind walls or avoid overlaps. Irregular shapes may have a bounds centre outside their visible shape.
Model names and replacement
Use unique object names in the source model. Material sections of one GLB object are grouped into one entry. Separate objects with the same name, or unnamed objects, cannot be linked reliably.
Links use saved names. When replacing a model, retain those names; review unresolved links and remove or reassign them. There is no automatic linking by matching a point’s name.
Tips and limits
Linked and hidden/nonrenderable geometry does not cast or receive dynamic shadows. Shadows baked into image textures cannot be removed. Eye-hidden geometry-only records are excluded from the current viewer; a record with another visible link or marker remains available. Overlay visibility and click-through are separate settings.
Effect on the published viewer
Links, visibility and click-through settings are draft until Publish. Point data keeps its existing live-update behaviour.
