Copy and align points between image backgrounds

For project owners Updated 5 October 2026

Copy existing point placements to another image in the same project, then move or align them together.

Before you begin

Open an editable project with points placed on an image background. Add another image background if you want to copy placements across.

Select your points

Hold Shift and drag a box around the points. Shift + click adds or removes individual selections. You can also click Select points and drag without holding Shift, or use Select all.

For polygons, the whole shape must fit inside the selection box.

Copy the placements

Click Copy in the selection toolbar. This copies positions linked to your existing point records. It does not create duplicate data rows or remove the originals.

Paste on another background

Choose the destination image using the Background selector, then click Paste here. Matching image framing preserves the positions even at different image resolutions. Points already placed on the destination are skipped so their positions are not overwritten.

Move or align the group

Pasted points remain selected. Drag any selected point to move the whole group. Arrow keys make small adjustments.

With two or more points selected, Align horizontally creates one row and Align vertically creates one column, centred on the selection. Polygon shapes move intact. Use one alignment direction as needed; applying both can stack point markers together.

Remove placements when needed

Click Remove from background and confirm. The underlying points stay in the Points table and on other backgrounds. Clear selection or Escape exits selection without deleting anything.

Preview and publish

Wait for All changes saved, check Preview, then click Publish changes when you are ready for visitors to see the new layout.

Expected result

The same point data appears on multiple image backgrounds. Names, prices and availability remain shared, while placement positions are independent.

Tips and limits

  • Copying works between image backgrounds within one project. Google Maps, 3D backgrounds and other projects are not paste destinations.
  • Different cropping or framing may need group repositioning or individual adjustment. Group scaling and rotation are not included.
  • The clipboard lasts for the current editor session; refresh or opening another project clears it.
  • Deleted or unavailable point records are skipped when pasting.
  • Group movement keeps spacing and stops at image boundaries. Group snapping is not applied.
  • Ctrl/Cmd+A, C and V work while the map editor has focus.

Effect on the public viewer

Placement copying, movement, alignment and removal change the draft layout. Publish is required to update the live viewer. Shared point data keeps its existing live-update behaviour.
